I have been a published cartoonist and cartoon illustrator for over twenty years. I trained as a graphic designer and animator and I lived and worked in London for twelve years trading as Electric Easel cartoons. Then I moved to Berkshire and now I live in Leicestershire. I do all kinds of work for all kinds of clients, big and small, national and international. Children's books, cartoon logos, marketing, cartoons for business, education and finance, character design and cartoon strips for advertising etc. Original ideas and intelligent art that sells all kinds of books, products and services.
I have helped develop brands and marketing campaigns and I have worked with top London ad agencies including Weber Shandwick. My English is excellent and I love coming up with names and catch phrases, strap lines, playing with words etc.
My cartoons have been published in books, trade press, newspapers, magazines and merchandising all over the world. I have done work for Coca-Cola, Glaxo Smithkline, Barclays Bank, Faberge and P&O Cruises but most of my clients are small businesses based here in Britain. I particularly enjoy drawing sports and animal cartoon characters. Character design and the characterisation of inanimate objects is a favourite of mine. Giving a fridge or a phone a personality with expression is always good fun! My own natural style is positive, playful, and bold but I can draw in a style to suit your needs. From simple black line art to rich, colourful illustration air brushed in photoshop. Sometimes a combination of styles and techniques are called for. Sometimes a design route will change and a black and white job will become colour.
I start with rough sketch sheets in pencil and pen. I can usually sketch ideas, scan them and email them to you within 24 hours of agreeing a price. I usually hit the nail on the head first time but it may take a few attempts to get the 'feel' just right for your market.
Then I draw, trace and scan the winning cartoon and paint it in Photoshop with digital airbrushes on my Wacom tablet. I email the finished artwork to you, your agent and/or printers. The files are compressed JPEG, PNG or Illustrator EPS files.
